Assessment Process

At Attuned Family Psychology, assessments are

completed in a structured and supportive way

to understand each individual’s strengths,

challenges, and support needs. The process is

collaborative and thoughtful, ensuring findings

are meaningful,

clearly explained, and useful in guiding next

steps.

Initial Consultation

The process begins with a 60-minute

consultation to discuss background

information, current concerns, and

relevant history. This can determine

whether a formal psychological

assessment is required.

Individualised Assessment Plan

Following the initial consultation, if a tailored

assessment plan is developed, it will outline

recommended tests, questionnaires, or

interviews. The detailed plan will include an

approximate timeframe and expected costs

before proceeding.

Assessment Sessions

Assessment sessions may include interviews,

questionnaires, and standardised

psychological testing. Depending on the

assessment, this may include cognitive

testing, attention and executive functioning

measures, or behavioural rating scales.

Report Preparation

A comprehensive report summarising results,

conclusions, and recommendations is prepared

and discussed with you. Report preparation

typically takes approximately 2–4wks from

psychometric testing being completed.

Feedback Session

A feedback session to review the results of the

assessment will be conducted to explain and

discuss the findings, answer any questions, and

discuss recommendations for next steps or

support strategies.

Is an Assessment Right for You?

Psychological assessments can help

provide clarity around learning, attention,

behaviour, or emotional functioning.

Families and individuals often seek an

assessment when they are noticing:

  • Emotional or behavioural concerns

  • Persistent attention or concentration

    difficulties

  • Challenges with organization,

    planning or task completion

  • Learning or academic difficultie

  • Questions about ADHD or Executive

    Functioning

  • Differences between a person’s

    strengths and their day-to-day

    functioning

Assessments help identify strengths,

understand challenges, and guide the most

helpful supports.

Our Approach

Our assessments are:

Individualised

Each assessment is tailored to the

individual rather than relying on

a one-size-fits-all testing approach.

Comprehensive

Multiple sources of information are

considered, including interviews,

standardised testing, questionnaires,

and relevant developmental or

educational history.

Strengths-Based

Assessments focus not only on

areas of difficulty, but also on

identifying cognitive strengths

and personal resources.

At Attuned Family Psychology, assessments

are designed to provide more than just test

results. The aim is to develop a clear

understanding of the whole person - how

they think, learn, and experience the world

so that recommendations are practical

and meaningful.

Neurodiverse-Affirming

Differences in attention, learning, and

processing are understood within a

neurodiversity-informed framework

that recognises variation rather than a

deficit perspective.

Practically Helpful

Reports include clear explanations and

practical recommendations to support

families, schools, and individuals.
